After much delay and hesitation, I have finally upgraded my website. I kind of got attached to my old website design. I spent hours tweaking it and making it exactly what I wanted. However, it was propped up by a lot of weird hacks and workflow workarounds and was starting to get a bit dated.
A while back, I heard about the impending release of squarespace 6.0 and promptly played with the beta version. I liked it, but it seemed to be limiting in a way, so I decided to stick with my old site.
This weekend, I was in the process of creating a gallery / slideshow for a wedding that I shot last weekend, but I couldn't find a way to easily make that happen. The workflow for getting stuff on this website has always been a bit of a mess, so I starting doing some web-based research -- as Ron Popeil would say, there has got to be a better way.
After playing around with smugmug and zenfolio, I decided to start with squarespace 6.0. I still had that trial version that I played around with a bit. Well, the little play session turned into nearly two days and evenings straight of moving over old galleries and trimming the fat (as it were), and now I am happy to relaunch my new photography website, with a little more focus and much cleaner design.
I've never been one to toot my own horn, but I have to say, the new design is pretty nice.
So, here we go now.
